Kathmandu, March 6
Two female pilots of Nepal Airlines have conducted an international flight, for the first time in the history of the Nepal Airlines Corporation.
Pilot Bhawana Pant and co-pilot Shreejana Rawat together flew the national flag carrier to Dubai from Kathmandu on Saturday night, according to Archana Khadka, the corporation spokesperson.
Spokesperson Khadka said, “Pilots Bhawana Panta and Shreejana Rawat together conducted the international flight for the first time in the history of the corporation. There is already a record of all-female pilots flying the aircraft, but in the international flight, it is the corporation’s first.”
According to the corporation, the female pilot duo took off the Tribhuvan International Airport at 11:00 pm flying the corporation’s Airbus A-320 aircraft. They are scheduled to fly back home on coming Wednesday, marking International Women’s Day.
Their flight will have an all-female cabin crew, it has been shared.
There are currently five female pilots flying various (narrow-body and wide-body) aircraft of the corporation, it is said.
