Kathmandu, September 14

China is ready to reopen two border points for trade with Nepal.

In a meeting with President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Li Zhanshu, the speaker of the Chinese National People’s Congress, said that the Tatopani and Rasuwagadi border points would open immediately.

“Li said he had met Chinese officials who looked at the commercial sector and also spoken to Chinese President Xi Jinping about reopening the two border points for smooth trade,” says the president’s communications expert Tika Dhakal.

After the Covid pandemic, both border points have been shut causing issues for hundreds of Nepali traders. These traders have time and again asked the Nepal government to speak to China about reopening it.
