Kathmandu, January 5
Madheshi Morcha (UDMF) leaders are set to meet Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ in Baluwatar at 3 pm on Thursday. According to Morcha leaders, the talks will focus on latest political developments in the country.
UDMF says the House must endorse the Bill even by scrapping Article 274 of the Constitution.
The meeting is taking place at a time when the CPN-UML is pressing for withdrawal of the Constitution Amendment Bill after the Supreme Court refused to issue an interim order in response to a writ petition against it.
The talks are taking place at Baluwatar at 3 pm on Thursday
Wednesday’s UDMF meeting concluded that the Parliament should endorse the Bill and withdrawing it is out of the question. UDMF leaders said they are meeting PM to press for endorsement of the Bill. UDMF says the House must endorse the Bill even by scrapping Article 274 of the Constitution.

UDMF fears PM may backtrack by accepting the UML’s preconditions. That’s why UDMF, which had criticised the government-sponsored Bill earlier, is now supporting it. It has said it will vote for the Constitution amendment proposal even if it does not incorporate its concerns.
