Kathmandu, October 18
The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 898,990 as of Monday afternoon.
The ministry said 591 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.
In this period, 7,654 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 523 returned positive. Likewise, 2,043 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 68 tested positive.
Of total tests, 6.83 per cent of the PCR and 3.32 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 6.09 per cent.
As of today, there are 11,874 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,027 are hospitalised, 280 in intensive care units and 99 on ventilators.
In the past 24 hours, 937 people have achieved recovery whereas nine deaths have been reported.
Of the total cases so far, 782,393 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,293 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.12 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.
Meanwhile, 27,701 people were vaccinated today.
