Kathmandu, August 30
A team from the Department of Standards and Metrology on Tuesday seized 22 date-expired cooking gas cylinders while Banepa-based Surya Gas Industry was trying to push them into the market.
Surya Gas Industry was sending the date-expired gas-filled cylinders into the market without bothering about the safety of consumers
Bishwo Babu Pudasaini, the department’s director-general, said they found the industry sending the date-expired gas-filled cylinders into the market without bothering about the safety of consumers.
It has come to light that the industry has not bothered to conduct hydraulic test of cylinders, Pudasaini said, adding that the seized cylinders were in poor condition.
He informed that the department had barred the industry from refilling cylinders that are not in good condition.
