Nepal Police SSP transfers: Chhabi Joshi is new Kathmandu police chief, Ramesh Kharel at HQ

Kathmandu, January 26

Nepal Police headquarters has finally transferred SSPs. SSPs received marching orders after Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi reached an understanding with Nepal Police IG Upendra Kanta Aryal on Wednesday night.

Dhaulagiri zonal police chief Chhabi Joshi has become Kathmandu police chief, whereas Metropolitan Police Crime Division chief Sarbendra Khanal has landed in Inspector General’s Secretariat. Now, Dinesh Amatya will hold the mantle at the division, whereas Dhiru Basnyat will head the Narcotics Control Bureau, Kathmandu.

SSP Ramesh Kharel, who was with Police Training Academy, Chitwan, will now look after the UN Section under Police Headquarters.

Thule Rai has become Lalitpur police chief in the new scheme of things. SSP Mahendra Pokharel will hold the mantle at NP’s Sindhuli Training Centre, whereas Dipak Thapa and Uttam Karki have become zonal police chiefs of Lumbini and Koshi districts, respectively. Pitambar Adhikari is the new Mechi zonal police chief.

Sher Bahadur Basnet, Mohan Joshi and Bal Ram Sharma have landed at the Central Investigation Bureau, Far-Western Zonal Police Training Centre in Dipayal and Sagarmatha zone as zonal police chief.

SSP Bishnu Hari Gautam will now discharge duties as Gandaki zonal police chief, Suraj KC as Karnali zonal police chief, Sushil Bhandari as Mahakali zonal police chief and Pushpa Ranjit as Kathmandu zonal police chief.

The transfers got delayed due to dispute between Home Minister Nidhi and IG Aryal.
