Kathmandu, October 1
Nepal Telecom, the government-owned telecommunications company in Nepal, says it will give sim cards for free to senior citizens, those above the age of 60 years, for the next 10 days.
The company made the announcement on the occasion of the International Day for Older Persons, being celebrated across the world on Friday.
The free sim card will have Rs 10 in its balance. In addition, the users can also have free calls for up to 40 minutes, send 20 SMS and use 60 MB data for free for one month.
The international theme of this day for this year is Digital Equity for All Ages. Hence, the government-run company decided to give free sim cards to the willing senior citizens.
Senior citizens in Nepal enjoy waivers on medical treatment and public transport fare among others.
