Kathmandu, February 8
The Nepali Congress’ district convention is taking place today. The convention is part of preparations to elect the party’s leadership through the general convention.
The party establishment under President Sushil Koirala and the faction of senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba are fighting a pitched battle over party leadership.
Today, the district convention will take place only in 65 districts
as the regional convention is yet to take place in 65 districts. This is because the party has not been able to hold regional conventions in Tarai districts due to obstructions from Madhesh-centric parties.
The NC’s 13th general convention is taking place in Kathmandu on March 3-6.
