Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has rejected the CPN-UML proposal on holding elections for the Federal Parliament by putting local and provincial elections on hold.
The UML standing committee had floated this proposal on Thursday.

Deuba, speaking at a press conference that Nepal Press Union (Chitwan) had organised, said that the UML proposal on holding polls for the Parliament is impractical.
The three parties have already agreed on holding local elections first, Deuba noted, adding that provincial elections and polls for the House of Representatives should be conducted later.
There will be a constitutional crisis in the event of failure to hold three-tier elections by Magh, 2074 (about a year from now), Deuba said, adding that parties should expedite the election proces by reaching an understanding.
Deuba said the Charter amendment proposal is in keeping with an understanding between then Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, CPN-UML Chair KP Oli and CPN-Maoist Centre Chair Prachanda.
