Nepal secured a spot in the semifinals of the SAFF Women’s Championship as Group B winners, defeating Sri Lanka 6-0 on Thursday.
The match, held at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar, saw Rekha Paudel score twice, with Sabita Rana Magar, Sabitra Bhandari, Amisha Karki, and Rashmi Kumari Ghising each adding a goal.
With this victory, both Nepal and Bhutan finished Group B with 7 points from 3 matches each. However, Nepal topped the group on goal difference, scoring 17 goals without conceding, while Bhutan conceded one goal.
Nepal has now reached the semifinals in all seven editions of the SAFF Women’s Championship. On Sunday, Nepal will face Group A runners-up India in the semifinals, while Group A winners Bangladesh will take on Group B runners-up Bhutan in the other match.
In front of over 7,000 fans at Dasharath Stadium, Nepal made an impressive start, scoring three goals within the first 13 minutes.
