Kathmandu, August 11
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Thursday decided to send Deputy Prime Minister and Nepali Congress leader Bimalendra Nidhi to India, and another deputy Krishna Bahadur Mahara to China as his special envoys.
The envoys are being sent to the countries at a time when Nepal does not have an ambassador in Beijing or New Delhi. According to sources close to the Prime Minister, the envoys have been instructed to prepare favourable conditions for Presidents of India and China to visit Kathmandu.
According to diplomatic sources, Chinese President Xi is expected to visit Nepal in September/October. Prime Minister Dahal wants Indian President Pranab Mukherjee to also come to Nepal, that too in September. “He wants to invite the Indian President to attend a special function to commemorate a year since the promulgation of the new constitution in September,” the source said.
