NEPSE: Share market rises, but trading volume declines

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose by 5.08 points on Tuesday, closing at 2,613. Despite the increase in the index, trading volume saw a decline, with transactions amounting to Rs 6.19 billion, down from Rs 6.57 billion the previous day.

The market saw limited fluctuations throughout the day. While the prices of 106 companies increased, 139 saw declines, and 8 remained unchanged. The insurance sector stood out, with life insurance gaining 1.10% and non-life insurance rising by 1.78%.

Among other sectors, the index for two reinsurance companies and Nepal Telecom rose, while the “Others” group recorded the highest gain at 2.79%. Development banks increased by 0.19%, hotels and tourism by 0.78%, investment by 0.74%, manufacturing by 0.89%, and microfinance by 0.03%. However, the trade sector suffered the biggest drop of 2.10%, followed by hydropower (-0.92%), finance (-1.03%), and banking (-0.35%).

Mandakini Hydropower posted the highest price increase of 10%, followed by Saptakoshi Development Bank (8.06%), Nyadi Hydropower (7.53%), CHDC (6.93%), Nepal Reinsurance (5.82%), Himalayan Power Partner (5.54%), Muktinath Agriculture (4.7%), and Himalayan Everest Insurance (4.32%).

On the other hand, River Falls Power experienced the steepest decline, dropping 8.9%. Manushi Laghubitta decreased by 6.7%, while Janaki Finance fell by 5.6%.

In terms of transaction volume, CHDC, Saptakoshi, Nepal Reinsurance, Super Madi, and Upper Mailung were the top performers.
