Kathmandu, March 16
The Ministry of Health and Population says it will soon establish a new authority with rights to regular and monitor all health facilities across the country.
The cabinet has already approved a theoretical concept paper about the authority and the ministry has expedited preparations for the opening, informs Man Bahadur Basnet, an undersecretary of the ministry.
Currently, legal instruments needed for the operation of the authority are being drafted and it will be over in 15 to 20 days, according to him.
In July last year, the ministry had called for suggestions from the stakeholders about the plan.
So far, the government does not have any dedicated agency to standardise and classify health institutions and ensure their services. “The authority will perform such tasks also,” Basnet informs.
