Kathmandu, May 21

Dramatically enough, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has also staked his claim to the position of the prime minister again.

Sources say Oli had gone to the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas, minutes before the opposition leaders including the Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba to stake his claim.

According to Oli’s chief political advisor Bishnu Rimal, Oli has claimed he has the support from 153 lawmakers including 121 of the CPN-UML and 32 of the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal.

Deuba has also claimed he has the support of 149 lawmakers including 61 of the Nepali Congress, 49 of the Maoist Centre, 27 of the Nepal faction of the UML and 12 of the Upendra Yadav-led faction of the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal.

It means the claims are contradictory as the House has only 275 members and some of them are suspended. Now, it is up to the president to verify which claim was right.

President Bhandari has given the parties a deadline of 5 pm today to stake the claim.
