Oli hints leftist alliance may advocate for executive presidential system

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli in Biratnagar, on Thursday, November 2, 2017.

Biratnagar, November 2

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has hinted that the leftist alliance may advocate for directly elected executive presidential system after provincial and federal parliamentary elections.

Speaking with journalists in Biratnagar of Morang today, Oli said the alliance would advocate for changing the form of governance, but that would not be authoritarianism.

In response to Nepali Congress President and Prime Minsiter Sher Bahadur Deuba’s recent statement that there would not be any place to express one’s happiness or sadness in a communist rule, Oli said Deuba’s argument was ridiculous.

Meanwhile, Oli claimed that PM Deuba wanted to sabotage the opposition forces and it was very unnatural for the PM of a democracy.

He also accused the Nepali Congress of doing anti-development politics.
