Onlinekhabar has launched its Australian edition, the first international edition of Nepal’s Number 1 news portal.
Shesh Ghale, chair of Non-Resident Nepalis’ Association, formally inaugurated the Aussie edition at a special ceremony in Sydney on Sunday.
In his inaugural address, Ghale lauded the news portal for playing a key role in uniting Nepali peoples the world over. He congratulated the portal for launching its first community edition and wished for success of the venture.
Onlinemedia can play a very important role in strengthening the NRN movement, Ghale said, adding: Nepal’s Number One online news portal has launched its Australia edition. This is good news for Nepali communities living in Australia.
Chairman of Onlinekhabar and Editor-in-Chief Dharma Raj Bhusal said they are offering the global brand and image of Onlinekhabar to readers in Australia with local taste.
He added: We have launched the first international edition of Onlinekhabar in Australia, believing that this will open a new chapter in the history of Nepali online journalism.
Bhusal said: The idea is to connect the second generation of Nepalis, who are growing abroad, with Nepal and Nepalis. We hope this endeavour will be successful.
Nepal’s Acting Ambassador to Australia Rajendra Pandey, NRNA Vice-chair Kumar Panta, Nepal’s Consul General for New South Wales Dipak Khadka, renowned physician Dr Kumud Dhital, NRNA Oceania coordinator Mahendra Lamsal and officiating Chair of NRNA Australia Dinesh Pokharel addressed the programme.
NRNA youth coordinator Bijaya Pokharel, Nepali Friends of Labour coordinator Gowa Katuwal, Nepali Friends of Liberal Sri Napit, Nepal Tourism Board representative for Queensland Swatantra Pratap Shah and council member of University of Technology (Sydney) Bijaya Sapkota also spoke on the occasion.
They all expressed hope that the Australia edition will be successful in covering activities of Nepali communities living in Australia throughout the world in an impartial manner.
