Kathmandu, May 22
Amid reports that some private schools in the country have started collecting fees despite the school closure during the lockdown, two key organisations of private schools in the country have said their members will not collect any fees until the schools reopen.
Leaders of the Private and Boarding Schools’ Organisation Nepal (PABSON) and the National Private and Boarding Schools’ Association Nepal (N-PABSAN) say they have directed their members not to collect any fees during the lockdown.
“Though they might have faced different problems, we have told the schools not to collect fees until the next notice,” PABSON president Tika Ram Puri says.
Likewise, N-PABSAN president Ritu Raj Sapkota says, “Since the schools are in operation, there is no way that they can collect the fees. No school should put pressure on the guardians to pay the fees in this emergency.”
Meanwhile, the Education and Health Committee and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology have also directed the schools not to collect the fees.
