Parvat: Instead of quarantine, man returning from India chooses to kill self

A man from Baglung has committed suicide, jumping off a cliff, while he was being taken to a quarantine camp set up to prevent the coronavirus infection in his community, on Monday.

The 39-year-old Chandra Bahadur Nepali, a resident of Baglung municipality-13 in the Baglung district, was being taken to the home district via Pokhara-Baglung Highway. When his bus stopped at Chuwa, Kusma-8 of Parvat, as a road section was difficult there, he jumped off the cliff, informs Parvat Chief District Officer Shambhu Prasad Regmi.

He was one among 17 residents of Parvat, Baglung and Myagdi districts returning from India via Sunauli border point due to the Covid-19 crisis. The bus (Lu 2 Kha 4220) was supposed to take them to different quarantine camps in their respective districts.

Further investigation is underway.
