Kathmandu, May 13
Weeks after the merger of the Samajbadi Party Nepal and Rastriya Janata Party Nepal, the newly formed People’s Socialist Party Nepal has begun internal discussions on the party’s organisational structure.
Though the leaders have already agreed that Mahantha Thakur will be given the most senior position in the party and Baburam Bhattarai and Upendra Yadav the next, other issues regarding the order of seniority are yet to be fixed. Likewise, they are yet to decide who will have how much executive power.
Sources say the leaders are considering various options.
Likewise, the leaders are mooting the formation of an eight-member directive committee which will work as the supreme body of the party. Eight signatories of the merger agreement, namely Thakur, Bhattarai, Yadav, Rajendra Mahato, Mahendra Raya Yadav, Sharad Singh Bhandari, Ashok Rai and Rajendra Shrestha are likely to be included in this committee.
Similarly, a 17-member secretariat has been proposed.
