Kathmandu, April 22
Indian President Pranab Mukherjee has extended an invitation to his Nepali counterpart Bidhya Devi Bhandari to visit India in May.
Indian External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup told local media at a regular press conference in New Delhi that Nepal and India have centuries-old ties, which have been nurtured by exchange of hi-level visits. In this context, Nepal’s President Mrs Bidhya Devi Bhandari will visit India next month, said Swarup adding that this will be President Bhandari’s first visit abroad since taking office.
Swarup said that during her stay in Delhi, the government will host her at the Rastrapati Bhawan. President Bhandari has also expressed interest in attending the Kumbh Mela in Ujjain in May, and the government of India would be glad to make arrangements for her, the spokesperson said.
According to sources, the President will start the visit on five-day visit on May 9.
