Kathmandu, July 12
The Department of Transport Management has increased the fares of public transport vehicles operating between provinces. The department hiked the prices after Nepal Oil Corporation upped the prices of petroleum products last week.
Public transport fares have gone up by 1.79 per cent, informed the department.
Freight rates for cargo vehicles have also gone up as the government has decreased fares of trucks operating in hilly areas by 2.34 and those in the Terai region by 2.6 per cent.
The government has arranged to fix the fares for public vehicles on an automatic basis as soon as fuel prices change.
The government last week increased the per-litre prices of petrol by Rs 2 and diesel by Rs 2.
