Kathmandu, December 26
Public transportation entrepreneurs have demanded that the government increase fare immediately considering various factors including the recent adjustment in petroleum price.
They have said they will boycott all functions and discussions to be organised by government bodies unless the government agrees to heed their demand.
General Secretary of the Federation of Nepali National Transportation Entrepreneurs, Saroj Sitaula, while addressing a discussion on child labour organised by the Department of Transport Management today, announced that his organisation would boycott all functions till the government increased the fare.
Sitaula said his organisation was not interested to discuss any issue including child labour till their demand was met.
Responding to Sitaula, the Department’s Director General, Rup Narayan Bhattarai, however, said the government would ensure implementation of the law and would not work for businesspersons only.
Transporters, however, say the government had earlier agreed to adjust the fare before Dashain; but the agreement is yet to be implemented.
