People took out a rally in Gulmi district headquarters Tamghas on Thursday against the design to remove Gulmi and some other districts from Province 5 and make them part of some other provinces.

Cadres of different political parties, professionals and members of the public took part in the rally that Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Gulmi) had called.

After the rally, rallyists handed over a memorandum to the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers through Chief District Officer of Gulmi.

The memorandum has objected to the Constitution amendment proposal that seeks to restructure Province 5. It points that trade relations, cordiality and unity existing between Hill districts and Tarai districts for long should not be snapped.

President of FNCCI (Gulmi), Durga Prasad Pandey, said the people of Gulmi will not hesitate to sacrifice their lives if the Constitution is amended without their consent. For now, the focus should be on implementing the Charter, not on amending it, Pandey said.
