Realme Narzo 50i is yet another budget smartphone from Realme, which was released along with Narzo 50A. The 50i does not have the best processor or cameras as it is cheap, yet a great battery backup is what can attract potential buyers. This is one of the cheapest smartphones offered by Realme in the market.
It is inferior compared to 50A that we recently reviewed in terms of performance, but it does resemble the 50A in terms of design and battery.
Let’s get into the details of the phone.

Design and display

Realme Narzo 50i comes with a street style diagonal stripe design. The phone has a glass front, polycarbonate plastic back and a plastic frame. Like 50A, the matte finishing on the back prevents smudges and fingerprints on the phone. There is no fingerprint sensor on the phone but instead has face recognition to unlock the phone. It is not that fast but does its work fairly, which is good enough for a budget phone.
The phone is 8.9mm thick, weighs 195 grams and is comfortable on the hand.

There is a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display on the phone with a maximum resolution of 720*1,600 pixels. The screen-to-body ratio of the phone is 88.7% which is similar to Narzo 50A. The phone can reach a peak brightness of 400 nits.
Camera

Since this is an entry-level budget smartphone, the phone only has a single camera on both the back and the front. The main 8MP AI camera on the rear has an aperture of f/2.2 with AF while the front 5MP AI selfie camera has an aperture of f/2.2 with portrait mode. Both cameras can record videos in 1080p at 30fps.
Performance and battery life

Realme Narzo 50i runs on Realme Go UI based on Android 11. It has an Octa-Core processor while the graphics are handled by entry-level PowerVR IMG8322.

Battery backup is the biggest strength of Realme Narzo 50i. The phone is powered by a 5000mAh non-removable Li-Po battery that can provide the users 43 days of standby time, 23 hours of YouTube, 43 hours of calls, 105 hours of Spotify and 10 hours of gaming as per the company. If you are low on battery, the phone has an ultra-saving mode and when enabled, the phone provides two hours of calls and two days of standby time. The phone also supports reverse charging.
Storage, connectivity and price

Realme Narzo 50i comes in two variants. The 2GB RAM variant comes with 32GB of internal storage whereas the 4GB RAM variant comes with 64GB of internal storage. There is also a dedicated slot for a MicroSD card for extending the storage. The storage can be expanded up to 256GB with the card.
The phone supports dual sims, dual wifi bands and has Bluetooth 4.2 for connectivity. The phone also has GPS support, OTG support and uses USB 2.0. For audio, it has a loudspeaker and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The price of Narzo 50i is Rs 12,999 for 2/32GB and Rs 15,499 for the 4/64GB variant. Both variants are available all over Nepal.
With this price range, Realme Narzo 50i competes with smartphones from Samsung and Xiaomi. Budget smartphones like Tecno Spark 7T, Vivo Y1s, Poco C3, Redmi 9c and Samsung’s Galaxy M01s are already in the market competing in this price category, hence it will be tough for the new product.
