Kathmandu, April 11
Sajha Yatayat is bringing in 30 disabled-friendly buses pretty soon. The state-owned transport corporation aims to operate these buses on old as well as new routes in the Kathmandu Valley. Kathmandu Metropolitan City has given Sajha 80 million rupees for the import of these buses of Euro III standard. CEO of Sajha, Mahendra Pandeya, said they will open the letter of credit within a week for the import of these buses. As per an agreement, the Indian manufacturer will deliver the buses within 120 days after opening the LoC.
KMC has invested shares worth 100 million rupees for procuring these buses. It has already gotten shares worth 20 million rupees. Pandey said Sajha will issue remaining shares worth 80 million rupees to the KMC soon.
With these buses, Sajha will have a fleet of 46 buses. Sajha Yatayat and Ashok Leyland, the Indian manufacturer, have already signed an agreement for the purchase of these buses.
These buses have two doors. Through the rear door, wheelchair users can easily embark on and disembark from these buses. Each of the 40-seater buses will have 25 straps. The buses will have TV sets and CCTV cameras, according to CEO Pandey. He said they are constantly trying different ways to ensure passengers a comfortable ride.
