Kathmandu, August 22
The SAFF U-20 Championship continues today as Nepal and Bangladesh clash in the final group stage match to determine the winner of Group A. The match is set to kick off at 3 pm at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato, Kathmandu.
Both teams have already secured their spots in the semifinals after winning their respective matches against Sri Lanka. Nepal narrowly defeated Sri Lanka 1-0, while Bangladesh earned a 2-0 victory, eliminating Sri Lanka from the tournament.
With a superior goal difference, Bangladesh only needs a draw to top the group. On the other hand, Nepal must win today’s match to claim the Group A title.
Nepal is particularly motivated to avoid a potential semifinal encounter with Group B’s top team, likely to be India. The semifinal pairings will be finalized after the last Group B match between India and the Maldives, scheduled for Friday.
The SAFF U-20 Championship features six teams divided into two groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals.
