Kathmandu, September 16

The Samajwadi Party Nepal, which is also a member of the current ruling coalition, has decided not to participate in any events to be organised on the occasion of Constitution Day. The party has also clarified that it will not conduct any programme against the constitution on the day.

The party is in an ambivalent position about the constitution as it is demanding an amendment, but at the same time is a part of the government. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population is chairman of the party’s central committee.

The party’s publicity department chief Prashant Singh informs in a statement today that the party instead will organise interaction programmes on the need of the constitution amendment in all provinces of the country.
