Rautahat, May 24

Police on Tuesday arrested seven United Madheshi Democratic Front activists for showing black flags to a team from the parliamentary Development Committee that was in Rautahat district to inspect the condition of the Postal Road. Police made the arrest after protesters started shouting slogans against the team under Rabindra Adhikari, chair of the development committee, at District Development Committee hall.

UDMF leaders resorted to a protest warning that they will not let anti-Madheshi forces organise any programme, when team members were interacting with representatives of the civil society, political parties and local people.

The arrestees are Sadbhavana Party’s district president Shesh Jamsed, women leaders Kiran Thakur and Shobha Sah, Ajaya Gupta, Anil Singh of the Tarai-Madhesh Democratic Party, Prakash Bhai and Laddu Ray Patel.
