Socket bomb found in Bhaktapur on voting day

Kathmandu, May 14

A socket bomb was found on the roadside along Araniko Highway in Gaththaghar of Bhaktapur on Sunday morning as 34 districts of Nepal began voting for local level elections.

A Nepal Army troop defused the improvised explosive devise.

Meanwhile, similar explosive was found at the yard of the house of CPN-UML mayoral candidate in Madhyapur Thimi Municipality, Madan Sundar Shrestha.

The bomb was wrapped in a black bag with a “danger” sign. The bomb was also defused by an NA team.

Police are yet to identify who planted the IEDs.
