Stock market declines for sixth consecutive day, NEPSE at 2,751 Points

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index continued its downward trend for the sixth consecutive day, dropping by 20.68 points on Monday. This follows a 46-point decline in the previous session, bringing the index to 2,751 points.

Out of the total listed companies, 44 saw an increase in their stock prices, while 191 declined, and eight remained unchanged. Trading volume also decreased, with total transactions amounting to Rs 8.37 billion, down from Rs 10.09 billion the previous day.

With the exception of the “Others” sector, all major sectors experienced losses. Himalayan Reinsurance saw a 1.16% gain, keeping the “Others” sector up by 0.08%. However, other sectors declined, with banking down 0.44%, development banks 0.73%, finance companies 0.70%, hotels and tourism 0.99%, hydropower 1.16%, investment 1.51%, life insurance 0.41%, manufacturing 1.15%, microfinance 0.63%, non-life insurance 0.68%, and trading 1.65%.

Among gainers, Nesdo Samriddhi Laghubitta rose by 10%, while Guardian Micro Life Insurance, Win Nepal Laghubitta, Swabhiman Laghubitta, and Green Development gained 8.73%, 8.53%, 3.02%, and 2.56%, respectively. Conversely, Upakar Laghubitta fell by 6.98%, Sikles Hydropower by 5.86%, and Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta by 4.62%.

Nepal Reinsurance led in transaction volume, with Rs 735 million worth of shares traded, followed by Himalayan Reinsurance with Rs 731.7 million. NLG Insurance, Guardian Micro Life Insurance, and Ghalemdi Hydropower also ranked among the top five in transaction value.
