The Supreme Court has issued a show-cause notice in response to a writ petition filed against the controversial appointment of 32 officials of various constitutional bodies.

A single bench of Justice Kumar Regmi issued the order in the name of the defendants including the President’s Office, and the Prime Minister’s Office to explain the rationale behind the decision within 15 days.

Demanding that the court cancel the appointments made without holding the parliamentary hearing as directed by the constitution, senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi had filed the petition.

Meanwhile, House of Representatives Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has also filed a writ petition against the appointments today.
