Kathmandu, January 3
The main opposition CPN-UML said on Tuesday the Prachanda-led government will land in a difficult situation if it does not withdraw the Constitution Amendment Bill.
UML Chair and Chief of the UML Parliamentary Party, KP Sharma Oli, said the Supreme Court has issued its verdict vis-a-vis a writ against the Bill in such a way that the Bill will be null and void even if the House passes it.
Addressing a meeting of the UML PP, Oli said: The court ruling states that the Parliament can discuss the Bill, but if the amendment is unconstitutional, it will be subject to annulment. The ruling has the government in a difficult situation.
‘The court ruling on the Bill has proved that the UML’s stance is right’
He said the government is ready to hold talks with the government on the matter. The court ruling has proved that the UML’s stance is right, he claimed.
