Kathmandu, June 8
The Supreme Court has issued an interim order, urging the government not to stop customers from placing online orders, and the traders from delivering the goods at the customers’ home even during the lockdown imposed to control the Covid-19 pandemic.
A division bench of justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Kumar Chudal issued the order on Monday in response to a writ petition filed by Nikita Agrawal among others.
Last year, several sales staffers of startups were detained by police for operating during the lockdown in Kathmandu. The issue, however, was immediately settled through talks.
But, with the new round of the lockdown, police again began to block the delivery staff, forcing the entrepreneurs to resort to the lawsuit.
The court, meanwhile, told the companies to ensure they and their staff maintain the health protocols issued to control the contagion.
