Nepali Congress Central Working Committee members have demanded the formation of a high-level commission to probe the death of party President and former prime minister Sushil Koirala. At the central committee meeting held on Tuesday, they called for a probe, pointing at serious negligence in Koirala’s medical treatment.
Koirala’s death figured in the meeting held primarily to discuss the agendas for the party’s 13th general convention.
Surya Man Gurung, a Congress leader from Taplejung, questioned: Why was there so much negligence in the medical treatment of a former prime minister, a great leader? He demanded formation of a commission to probe the leader’s death.
Gurung also drew the party leadership’s attention towards negligence in the treatment of Congress leader Chakra Banstola. Leaders like Bal Krishna Khand also supported Gurung. Congress leader Gurung told Onlinekhabar: Shekhar Koirala and Mahesh Acharya (NC leaders) pointed NC President Koirala died before he could be rushed to hospital. This matter should be taken seriously.
NC Acting President Ram Chandra Poudel assured to discuss the matter at the meeting of the party’s office-bearers. The next CWC meeting will take place on February 25.
