Five temporary police selected for the forthcoming local elections have died over the past week.
One out of the five died of suicide, informed Bishnu Kumar Kc, the spokesperson of Nepal Police. The temporary police were deployed in Lalitpur, Humla, Sindhupalchok and Nuwakot.
Durga Singh Basnet deployed in Sindhupalchok died after falling off a slope. Yogendra Neupane deployed in Nuwakot died in a road accident. Jas Bahadur Roka who was at Humla was found dead in his bed while Anita Bhattarai drank poison and killed herself, informed Nepal Police.
Likewise, Bhojraj Parajuli died in Lalitpur while on duty.
The government will give families of the deceased Rs 2 million each. The family of the Bhattarai who died of suicide will not be getting compensation from the government.
Similarly, 11 temporary police in the Lumbini province have been sacked. Nepal Police is also taking action against nine in Sudurpaschim, eight each in Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces and four in Madhesh.
