Kathmandu, May 29
After social media users accused the government of nepotism in finalisation of list of winners of various awards to be conferred on the occasion of Republic Day, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s son Prakash has said he will give up the award.
Prakash Dahal was one of the winners of Suprabal Janasewashree Padak declared today.
After the criticisms, Dahal wrote on his Facebook page that he would not accept the award.
“I express my heartfelt gratitude,” Dahal said, “But, I did not and do not have any expectation for the medal.”
“It is my duty to respect the roles and contributions of warriors who gave up their life for republicanism. Realising the duty, I declare that I will not accept the medal.”
“I have to do much more for this country,” he added.
