Kathmandu, December 17
The leftist alliance, eager to take charge of the country after winning recent House of Representatives elections, has said there is not any confusion about the formation of new government in the constitution.
The statement follows a recent debate on whether the House of Representatives, the Lower House of bicameral Parliament, can elect the new government before the formation of National Assembly, the Upper House.
Orgnaising a press meet in Kathmandu today, top leaders of the alliance–CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal–said the Nepali Congress led by incumbent Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba should pave the way for the formation of new government.
The leaders said failing to do so would be a disrespect for people’s votes.
Meanwhile, the alliance also accused the government of trying to drag President Bidya Devi Bhandari into a controversy by forcing her to enact the ordinance on National Assembly, which the alliance says is against the sentiments of constitution as it proposes the single transferable voting system.
