Kathmandu, June 24
Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) will undergo significant operational changes starting November 8, with a daily closure for 10 hours to facilitate major upgrades. The airport will be closed from 10 pm to 8 am for five months to accommodate runway expansion, taxiway, and parking area improvements, according to the airport authority.
The temporary schedule will reduce the airport’s operational hours to 14 hours a day, a change from its current 6 am to 2 am schedule. This adjustment will be in place until March 31, 2025.
The TIA office stated that these upgrades are essential to enhance the airport’s capacity and safety. Airlines operating at TIA will need to revise their flight schedules to comply with the new operational hours.
This major change aims to improve the infrastructure and overall efficiency of Nepal’s busiest airport, ensuring better service for passengers in the long run. The airport authority has urged passengers and airlines to plan accordingly during this period.
