Kathmandu, April 11
Top leaders of CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre are holding a meeting on Wednesday in a bid to settle issues related to their unification which they have differences on.
The meeting of Party Unification Coordination Committee has been called for this evening. UML Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal have decided to hold the meeting after a discussion today.
The two parties have disagreements on three major issues; namely: election symbol of the unified party, inclusion of ‘people’s war’ in the party statute, and the ratio of two parties’ representatives in the unified committee.
A leader involved in recent negotiations say the two parties are likely to agree on the sun as election symbol, including ‘people’s war’ in the statute and 60:40 ratio in the organisation.
UML General Secretary Ishwar Pokharel says the meeting will also discuss reports presented by two task forces formed to draft interim statute and finalise the organisational structure.
It has been learned that the leaders will make efforts to announce the unification on April 22.
