CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal says the announcement that his party and the CPN-UML are unifying after elections created shock waves at national and international levels. He says effects of the unification were the biggest in Nepali politics since 1950.
He says the national and international stakeholders had not given such a serious attention even to the decision to begin an armed conflict in 1990s.
Speaking at an interaction with civil society members in Bharatpur of Chitwan today, Dahal said, “It is like a miracle. People have been excited for the unification of communists. The other side seems to have deviated.”
Dahal also urged his cadres and civil society members not to doubt the unification. “Now, no one can stop unification,” he said, adding the leftist government to be formed after the polls would led the country towards socialism.
He was of the view that the country would benefit from such unification and suggested various factions of Nepali Congress also unite.
He maintained that the unified communist party could work together with the Congress on agendas of nation, nationalism and independence.
“Do not chide us much,” he said, “We need to come together tomorrow.”
