Kathmandu, April 1
The CPN-UML has rejected a proposal floated by the CPN-Maoist Centre to adopt the two-chairperson leadership model at all levels, from the ward committee to the centre.
The two parties have already agreed to keep two chairpersons in the central committee of unified party that they plan to form after the merger.
The UML has argued that keeping two chairs at every level would give an impression of two parties. The party rather suggested the provincial committees have coordinator and deputy coordinator whereas other committees have chairperson and secretary.
Meanwhile, UML leader Beduram Bhusal says the two parties are yet to finalise exact structures of other committees as they have different opinions about these issues.
Maoist leader Janardan Sharma suggests that the Party Unification Coordination Committee, involving top leaders of both parties, take the initiative to resolve the outstanding issues.
On the other hand, the two parties are yet to decide how many leaders from each party will get seats in the new central committee though they have already agreed to make a 299-member central committee.
