Kathmandu, June 30
The CPN-UML has won the positions of mayor and deputy mayor in Amargadhi Municipality, the district headquarters of Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s home district, Dadeldhura.
UML’s Bishweshwor Prasad Ojha aka Bipin and Sangita Bhatta won the positions of mayor and deputy mayor respectively.
Ojha received 3,768 votes while his closest competitor NC’s Dilli Raj Ojha garnered 3,640 votes. In the race for deputy mayor, Sangita Bhatta received 3,517 votes and the Maoists’ Karunakar Ojha 717.
Vote counting is underway in other local units of the district.
