Xiaomi’s sub-brand POCO has launched the new X series for 2024. The series includes the POCO X6 Pro and the POCO X6. The Pro model stands out as the highly anticipated smartphone, boasting significant upgrades from its predecessor.
The base version, the POCO X6, also emerges as a compelling option with substantial improvements. The X6 series appears robust, signalling POCO’s ambition to reclaim the flagship killer status.
The smartphone is the successor to the POCO X5, bringing about significant changes in dimensions, chipset, camera, fingerprint sensor, battery, and charging capabilities within the mid-range segment. It shares certain specifications with its higher-end Pro counterpart while delivering commendable performance and an overall satisfying user experience at its price point.

Design and Display
The POCO X6 has a slightly refreshed design from its predecessor, the POCO X5. The smartphone features slightly reduced dimensions and weight compared to the X5. On the back, it features a plastic back with a dual-tone colour finish. The Blue and Black colours have a light and dark part when reflected in light. The White colour option has an abstract texture design which might be many people’s choice.
The camera module on the back spans the upper deck with the camera bump on the left side and the POCO branding on the right. The frame is also made up of plastic and has rounded edges. On the display front, the POCO X6 has a centred hole punch cutout for the selfie camera. The bezels in the price range are impressive and are thin for a more premium feel and look.
The POCO X6 features a 6.67-inch 1.5K Flow AMOLED DotDisplay with a resolution of 2,712 × 1,220 pixels and a pixel density of 446 PPI. The aspect ratio is 20:9 and has a high contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1. It has a DCI-P3 colour gamut of 100 per cent for accurate colour reproduction. The brightness levels reach 1,200 nits for HBM brightness and peak brightness at 1,800 nits. The Pro HDR display supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz for smooth and responsive interactions. It also supports sunlight mode, cycle mode, and reading mode as features.
The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and also has an IP54 rating for protection against dust and splash.
Performance and Storage
The POCO X6 is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, built on a 4nm architecture. Its octa-core CPU consists of four high-performance cores clocked at 2.40 GHz and four power-efficient cores running at 1.95 GHz. The graphics are handled by the Adreno 710 GPU for smooth operation. It runs on MIUI 14 for POCO, based on Android 13. It is also set to get the latest Android 14 and the new HyperOS operating system shortly.
The POCO X5 is available in two RAM options of 8GB and 12GB. The 8GB base model is paired with one storage option of 256GB while the 12GB is paired with two storage options of 256GB and 512GB.
Camera
The POCO X6 is equipped with a triple rear camera setup, featuring a 64MP main camera with 1.4μm large pixels which uses 4-in-1 pixel binning technology for more detailed shots and operates at an f/1.79 aperture. It is complemented by an 8MP ultra-wide camera with a 118° field of view and a 2MP macro camera with an f/2.4 aperture for close-up shots. As for features, the rear camera has HDR, Pano, portrait, 64MP mode and beauty filters.
When it comes to video recording, the POCO X6 supports 4K recording at 30fps, as well as 1080p at both 30fps and 60fps and 720p at 30fps. The rear camera offers various video features, including short film, slow motion, and time-lapse.
The POCO X6 features a 16MP front camera with an f/2.45 aperture which delivers some clear and detailed selfies. The front camera is capable of recording videos at 1080p resolution at both 60fps and 30fps and 720p video recording at 30fps.
Battery and Others
The POCO X6 is equipped with a slightly larger 5,100mAh (typical) battery, providing ample power for the day. Charging is fast with 67W fast charging support. The 67W charging brick is available in the box. For connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 5.2 for fast and reliable wireless connections. It operates on both LTE and 5G networks for high-speed data connectivity. It features a dual SIM card slot.
In terms of audio, the POCO X6 has dual speakers and includes a 3.5mm headphone jack. It is certified with Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Wireless Audio certifications for a nice audio experience.
It is equipped with a range of sensors, including a proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, electronic compass, IR blaster, gyroscope, X-axis linear vibration motor and an in-screen fingerprint sensor.
The POCO X6 is available in three colour options; Blue, Black and White.
The POCO X6 can be expected at Rs 34,000 for the 8/256GB option, Rs 38,000 for the 12/256GB option and Rs 42,000 for the 12/512GB option when it is launched here in Nepal.
