The sub-brand of Xiaomi, POCO has launched its popular mid-range smartphone series, the POCO X series which includes the POCO X6 Pro and POCO X6. The series is the successor of last year’s POCO X5 Pro and X5. The Pro model rebrands the recently released Redmi K70e with some major changes.
The X series from POCO are labelled as the flagship killers. Since POCO does not release any high-end flagship smartphones, these mid-range smartphones are some of the best-selling performance-oriented smartphones in the market.
There are a few changes from last year’s POCO X5 Pro in terms of design, chipset and camera.

Design and Display
The POCO X6 Pro has a new design in comparison to the POCO X5 Pro. The design is the same as the Redmi K70e which was launched a while ago. Being a sub-brand, POCO smartphones are either a complete rebrand of the Redmi smartphones or share similar specs to them.
The smartphone has three colour options; Yellow, Grey and Black. The Grey and the Black colour options have a shiny plastic back whereas the Yellow colour option has a eco-friendly vegan leather back. The camera module is rectangular shaped which houses the triple camera setup.
The back is slightly curved towards the flat plastic frame. The flat frame gives the smartphone a premium feel. On the display front, it has a centred hole-punch cutout which houses the selfie camera. The bezels are thin which makes it look premium.
The POCO X6 Pro has a 6.67-inch CrystalRes 1.5K Flow AMOLED DotDisplay with a resolution of 2,712 × 1,220 pixels, delivering 446 PPI. It features a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 and a wide colour gamut of DCI-P3. It has a brightness of 1,200 nits (HBM brightness) and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits. With HDR10+ support, users can enjoy sharp details. The AdaptiveSync display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz enhances smoothness along with a touch sampling rate of 480Hz (2160Hz instant touch sampling rate with Game Turbo mode on).
The display is further protected by Corning® Gorilla® Glass 5. Additionally, it offers features like Sunlight mode, Reading mode, and Cycle mode for a comfortable viewing experience. It also has IP54 dust and splash resistance for further safety.
Performance and Storage
The POCO X6 Pro has the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra chipset built on a 4nm architecture under the hood. Its octa-core CPU runs at 3.35 GHz which is divided into a configuration of 1+3+4 cores. The Mali-G615 GPU handles the graphics performance for maximum gaming and multimedia experience.
It runs on the latest HyperOS with the Android 14 operating system. The HyperOS is the new operating system Xiaomi and the sub-brands are getting which is replacing the MIUI. The software experience is clean with few pre-installed apps which can be easily disabled or uninstalled.
The POCO X6 Pro is available in two RAM options of 8GB and 12GB. The 8GB RAM option is paired with 256GB of storage and the 12GB option is paired with 512GB of storage.
Camera
The POCO X6 Pro is equipped with a triple rear camera setup on the back. It features a 64MP main camera with a 1.4μm large pixel size for detailed and vibrant photos. The other two cameras are an 8MP ultra-wide camera with a 120° field of view and a 2MP macro camera for close-up shots. The main camera also has Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for stable and focused shots.
The rear camera offers various video features including slow motion and time-lapse, and supports 4K video recording at 24fps/30fps, 1080p at 30fps/60fps and 720p at 30fps. As for features, the rear camera has HDR, pano, portrait, 64MP mode and beauty filters.
On the front, there is a 16MP camera with an f/2.4 aperture. It has support for recording 1080p videos at 30fps/60fps and 720p at 30fps. The selfie camera is also decent with detailed shots in proper lighting conditions.
Battery and Others
The POCO X6 Pro is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery, ensuring ample power throughout the day without frequent charging. It supports fast charging with a 67W turbocharger which can charge the smartphone from 0 to 100 per cent in about 47 minutes.
Connectivity features include Wi-Fi support for 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax standards and Bluetooth 5.4 for seamless wireless communication. It has support for both LTE and 5G networks and can accommodate dual SIM cards for flexibility. The audio experience is also nice with dual speakers and certifications for Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, and Hi-Res Wireless Audio for an immersive audio experience.
The POCO X6 Pro is equipped with a set of sensors, including a proximity sensor, 360° ambient light sensor, accelerometer, flicker sensor, electronic compass, IR blaster, gyroscope, and an in-screen fingerprint sensor for secure unlocking.
It is available in three colour options; Black, Grey and Yellow.
The POCO X series is loved in Nepal and the X6 series shall launch soon here too. It is expected to cost around Rs 46,000 for the 8/256GB option and Rs 50,000 for the 12/512GB option.
