The British motorcycle brand Triumph has officially entered the Nepali market with two motorcycles; Triumph Scrambler 400X and the Triumph Speed 400. The British brand collaborated with the Indian motorcycle giant; Bajaj. The collaboration has been quite fruitful with both models selling over 60,000 units sold all over the world.
The Speed 400 is a modern retro roadster motorcycle whereas the Scrambler 400X is a scrambler with off-road-focused bigger tyres and more ground clearance. The design of both bikes is similar to the other Triumph bikes in their lineup. The Scrambler 400X takes inspiration from the bigger Triumph Scrambler 900 and the Scrambler 1200.
The Scrambler 400X shares the same engine as the Speed 400 producing the same amount of maximum power and maximum torque. The Scrambler 400X will compete against other bikes in the category such as Yezdi Scrambler, Suzuki V-Strom SX 250 and Royal Enfield Scram 411.

Design
The Triumph Scrambler 400X has a modern retro look combined with the scrambler properties. The front of the scrambler is contemporary with LED lighting similar to the Speed 400. The front tyre is 19 inches which lifts the front giving an aggressive look. The LED headlight is protected with a grille from rocks and pebbles when going off-road. The handle is tall which will be easier for saddling during long tours. The hand is protected with the handguard which comes stock with the bike.
Coming to the side, the Triumph Scrambler 400X has a proper scrambler feel with 835 mm ground clearance and 195 mm of seat height. The Scrambler 400X also comes with an aluminium skid plate which protects the underside from rocks when going off-road.
The exhaust has a scrambler design with a dual-tip outlet, producing an aggressive bass and thump on a higher rev range. The split seat is comfortable with the rider seat slightly lower and inclined than the passenger for comfort while riding. The tank is muscular with a dual-tone finish and Triumph logos engraved on either side.
The rear of the Triumph Scrambler 400X features the same taillight as the Speed 400. The taillight is the same as the Speed 400X. The grab handles connect one piece on either side for the pillion and act as a mounting point for the accessories.
The instrument cluster of the Triumph 400X is shared with the Speed 400. The hybrid instrument cluster includes both digital and analogue parts. The analogue part displays the information for the speed, warning lights, Neutral indicator, headlight, indicators, ABS on/off and Traction Control on/off. The digital part displays information such as RPM, gear position, fuel meter, time and trip meter.
Performance
The Triumph Scrambler 400X delivers solid performance with its 398.15 cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, producing a maximum power of 40 PS at 8,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 37.5 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm ensuring smooth acceleration and enough punch for both city and light off-road trails. The 6-speed gearbox provides a balanced ride and easy shifting.
The Scrambler 400X’s suspension setup is built with 43mm upside-down forks at the front and a gas mono-shock at the rear, both offering 150mm of wheel travel absorbing bumps and maintaining stability. The hybrid frame design with a bolt-on subframe adds to the rugged feel.
As for the stopping power, the Scrambler 400X is reliable with the 320mm front disc with a four-piston radial calliper and a 230mm rear disc, both equipped with ABS. The 10-spoke cast aluminium wheels and dual-purpose tyres offer good grip on various surfaces.
