Kathmandu, December 22
A youth died and his friend sustained injuries in an attack at Bankali area, close to the Pashupatinath Temple, in Kathmandu.
Injured in the knife attack on Wednesday evening, Sonam Tamang (19) of Dharan, Sunsari district, died while undergoing treatment at KMC Hospital in Sinamangal, police informed. Tamang used to live in Balaju. In the attack, Bijaya Gurung (18) has sustained serious injuries in his head and armpits, medics informed, describing his condition as serious.
Police described it as a revenge attack, pointing that Sonam and Bijaya had beaten up members of the rival gang earlier. Nava Raj Karki, DSP at Gaushala police, said a search for the attackers is underway.
