Kathmandu, January 2
Nepal is hosting the Asia-Pacific regional conference of Interpol from January 18 to 20, in Kathmandu.
Interpol liaison office chiefs from 50 countries will take part in the conference, Bigyan Raj Sharma, AIG at Crime Investigation Department of Nepal Police, the organiser, informed. Observers from three countries, including the US and France, will also participate.
The world conference of Interpol held in Bali, Indonesia, in 2016 had elected Meng Hongwei as its president.
The Interpol conference held in Singapore two years ago had proposed holding the 23 regional conference of the world policing body in Nepal.
The jamboree will focus on terrorism, human trafficking, organised crime and cybercrime
At the three-day conference, Nepal Police IGP Upendra Kanta Aryal will present a working paper on steps that Nepal has taken against human trafficking and the trafficking situation in the country.

AIG Sharma told Onlinekhabar the conference will discuss efforts to control terrorism, human trafficking situation, organised crime and cybercrime.

Sharma said: Twenty-seven years after organising the 10th conference of Interpol, Nepal has got the opportunity to hold this conference. During this conference, Nepal Police will share with the world community its experience in combating terrorism and human trafficking.

Nepal Police will arrange security for participants at the conference taking place at Hyatt Hotel in Kathmandu.
