Kathmandu, December 17
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police have arrested, Komal Raj Upadhyaya of Sarlahi, who was on the run after committing fraud. He has been extradited from the UAE with the help of INTERPOL.
SP Navaraj Adhikari, the spokesperson for CIB, said an arrest warrant has been issued against Upadhyaya on charges of fraud. Consequently, he was arrested in the UAE and brought back to Nepal on Friday to face legal action in connection with the aforementioned case.
INTERPOL issued a red notice on behalf of the Interpol branch of Nepal Police, following multiple complaints filed against Upadhyaya.
A total of 51 individuals reported that Upadhyaya had taken money from them, promising employment opportunities in Dubai but ultimately failed to deliver on his commitments.
