Kathmandu, July 11
Nepali Congress leader and a close confidant of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Bimalendra Nidhi, says the government will not move the constitution amendment bill to vote now after the main opposition party, CPN-UML, refused to support it.
Nidhi says the ruling parties made such decision after they concluded that it will not be possible now to garner two-third majority votes in Parliament to endorse the amendment.
In his tweet this afternoon, Nidhi also says the agitating Rastriya Janata Party Nepal will be informed about the latest developments today itself.

Just this morning, major three parties–Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre–had held a meeting to discuss the issue, in which the UML had clarified that it was against putting the motion to vote till the conclusion of provincial and federal polls.
On the other hand, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has not taken any decision about whether to support the bill and the UML is trying to bring it to the opposition camp.
