Three Biplav leaders arrested in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, August 6

Three leaders of the banned Maoist outfit led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ have been arrested in Kathmandu.

Dambar Bahadur BK, Mahar Gurung and Uma Gurung were arrested in Maitidevi of Kathmandu on Tuesday, according to SSP Sahakul Bahadur Thapa, chief of the Metropolitan Police Crime Division.

Police have claimed that BK is a central member of the party. But, a leader of the party says he among 17 was expelled from the group already. It is said that he was advocating for talks with the government in the party.

Likewise, Gurung is an alternative central member and Gurung is a former central member of the party’s sisterm organisation, Tamu Mukti Morcha.

Thapa says further investigation is underway.

Earlier on Sunday, the Chief District Officer of Kathmandu had ordered police to release the party’s leader Jeevan Karki ‘Jeevanta’. He was also a pro-talks leader.
